A 101-year-old veteran in Texas made the hilarious choice to renew his driver’s license just because he wanted ‘to see if I could.’

Thomas ‘Ed’ Davis, a veteran who proudly served in World War II and the Korean War, lived on to an impressive 101 years old.

Davis, just as other drivers over the age of 85, must renew his license every two years, and despite being more than a century old, he saw no reason to stop just yet.

‘I guess I probably did it to see if I could!’ he said.

The process was much simpler than he imagined.

Davis told ABC 11: ‘Wasn’t much to it really. I filled out a form, they held up a card and said, “Can you read that?” I could read it, so there I was.’

The renewal didn’t seem to excite him too much, even though he’s happy he’s able to continue driving.

‘Driving is not that important to me now,’ he told the outlet. ‘All my children are here pretty close.’

However, Davis appears to be following in his brother’s footsteps who, at 103, did the same.

He added that his older brother lived to be 105, and his mother was also a centenarian.

The father of five drives a Chevy pickup and said that he used to drive several trucks for his construction business.

‘Chevy’s always been my favorite of the trucks,’ he added.

Davis admitted that he had a soft spot for the ’55 Oldsmobile and remembers the excitement of seeing the manufacturer come out with the curved windshield – so he had bought one for himself.

‘Just one of those things you do!’ he said, after he said he probably couldn’t afford it at the time.

Even at 101, he continues to move around things like lumber but typically keeps his trips relatively short.

Davis also admitted to driving a fair bit under the speed limit but added that he doesn’t often drive.

‘It’s ok. It’s not a big thing in my life,’ he said. ‘I have a lot of help here to drive me around when I need to go.’

Yet, Davis’s driving record is squeaky clean with not much more than a speeding ticket some time ago.
