Legendary Highlife artiste KK Fosu has tackled the perception that Highlife music is only for older generations.

During an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie, he dismissed such comments, stating, “That’s just them saying, don’t mind them. That is what they’ve been saying even when we were young.”

KK Fosu highlighted that Highlife music has not lost its appeal and is very relevant, even among the youth.

KK Fosu noted that younger audiences still enjoy and sing along to his hit songs, pointing out his performance at Medikal’s Beyond Kontrol Concert.

He called for generational gaps in music to be closed by introducing legendary musicians to the younger generation.

“We’re grown up, so we need to think like grown-ups. This is their time. We need to mingle with them; let them know that, okay, this is your legend. But if you don’t respect KK Fosu, then you’ll be saying bad things about KK and other legendary acts. They wouldn’t know them.

“We will just die and go, and then they will never know about us. But when you try to introduce us to them, that’s when they’ll get used to us.

“So I’ll be happy if they give more stages to highlife musicians—legendary musicians. I’ll be so happy with that,” he suggested.

KK Fosu said this at Medikal’s Beyond Kontrol Concert held at Ghud Park in Accra on December 26, 2024.

The event, which attracted massive crowds, saw Medikal entertain the ecstatic audience with his hit songs.

He was also joined by various artistes including Shatta Wale, Efya, Quamina MP, Jay Bhad, etc.
