After the passing of your father, Nii Tettey, I could rely on you, my beloved wonderful son, to protect me from anything that would make me feel insecure. I called you Nnutsor, my Little Pet, Herman. It never occurred to me that I would live to witness such a massive smack. There should be no need for a mother to bury her son. That’s my lot, though. My confidence in the God I revere and adore would not be shaken by this test, which was placed upon me like Job.
If He hadn’t, I am sure, needed you for greater service in His presence, I know you wouldn’t have left me. My heart stopped when I heard the awful news, Herman, but I knew I had to keep going so I could give you the farewell you deserved. A few hours before you departed, you told me, with your characteristic big smile, that I shouldn’t worry about anything. I genuinely promise to maintain my composure till we cross paths again because I take them seriously.
My sense of pleasure that I was chosen to bring you into the world is validated by the praise and flowers that have been showered upon you since your passing, as well as the numerous people who have come forward to openly share how much you have impacted their lives.
As a man, spouse, father, provider, thought leader, and proud grandfather, I saw you grow into all of these roles. With the help of your inquisitive mind, you achieved a lot. You shared your father’s enthusiasm for fostering harmony in your surroundings.
