Black Stars captain, Jordan Ayew

The Black Stars delivered yet another impressive performance, securing a convincing 5-0 victory over Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Otto Addo’s side claimed all three points in a must-win game, further strengthening their position at the top of the table.

The Black Stars are now a point away from officially securing their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

Here are GhanaWeb’s Joel Eshun’s player ratings after the game.

Benjamin Asare – 7.5

The Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper kept another clean sheet for the national team. Though he didn’t face much from the Central Africans, his distributions were brilliant on the day.

Despite the intense pressure from the opposition, Asare consistently played through the press initiating attacking transitions from his goalpost.

Gideon Mensah – 8

After a series of criticisms from Ghanaians, the Auxerre defender rose to the occasion and delivered a point-to-prove performance against Central African Republic.

Gideon Mensah made brilliant rounds on the left flank and created most of Ghana’s chances in the first half with his crosses. He eventually created Jordan Ayew’s goal in the 71st minute.

Salisu Mohammed & Alexander Djiku 8 each

The duo provided the needed cover for goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and made sure the team will not concede. They capped of their performances with a goal each, helping the team cruise to a comfortable 5-0 win on the road.

Caleb Yirenkyi – 7

The youngster produced another masterclass at the right side of Ghana’s defence. Although Caleb didn’t score or register an assist, he executed his duties with excellence, ensuring that no danger emerged from his flank throughout the game.

Thomas Partey 7.5, Kwasi Sibo 7

Partey and Sibo controlled the midfielder for most part of the game but there were moments when they lost their grip of the midfield. Fortunately for the Black Stars, the opponents lacked the quality to capitalize on the little mistakes.

Kudus Mohammed 9

The Tottenham Hotspurs winger tormented the Central African Republic midfield and defense for the entire duration of the game. Kudus tracked back to support Partey and Sibo whenever Ghana lost possession, something he rarely does when playing for the Black Stars. He also assisted Ghana’s first goal from the corner kick.

Antoine Semnyo 6, Fatawu Issahaku 6.5

Semenyo was descent in the game as he is still yet to replicate his club performance in the national team. Fatawu on the other hand showed a glimpse of quality in the first half with his quality on the ball and runs off the ball.
