    Following footage shared by some media houses regarding the Z9 military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has urged the media to show empathy toward the bereaved families in their coverage of the incident.

    The nation was plunged into mourning after the crash claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians, including two Cabinet Ministers.

    In a post shared on X on August 7, 2025, Sarkodie advised journalists to be mindful of the questions they ask and the videos they broadcast.

    “Wanting to be the first to get exclusives all in the name of content can make you inhumane… Be human first,” he wrote.

    Background

    On August 6, 2025, a military helicopter carrying three military officers and government officials on a national assignment crashed en route to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) at Black Park, near the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.

    The fatal incident claimed the lives of:

    Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence

    Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment

    Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator

    Samuel Sarpong, former Central Regional Minister

    Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate

    The helicopter’s crew also perished in the crash. They included:

    Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu

    Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala

    Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
