Accra Hearts of Oak has withdrawn from the 2025 EKO International Tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, prioritising player welfare and adhering to a planned rest and recovery schedule ahead of pre-season preparations.

The club decided to withdraw after thorough discussions between management and the technical team, prioritising the players’ physical and mental well-being ahead of the demanding pre-season.

This move highlights the club’s focus on long-term performance and injury prevention over short-term gains.

Hearts of Oak apologised to the tournament organisers and fans for the disappointment, assuring supporters that the decision was made with the players’ best interests in mind, to return stronger and better prepared for the upcoming season.

The team will start its official break on Wednesday, July 9, and resume pre-season training later in the month. With a packed August schedule, the club is set to participate in several key fixtures, including the GHALCA Top 4 tournament (August 15-19), a Homowo Cup match against Heart of Lions, and the Democracy Cup clash against Great Olympics on August 28.
