The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season opens with Hearts of Oak hosting newly-promoted Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, September 12, 2025.
It is a fitting curtain-raiser, one of the country’s giants beginning their campaign against fresh challengers making their debut at this level.
Hearts come into the season with renewed confidence under coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. After a difficult run in the league in recent years, the Phobians have enjoyed a strong pre-season after winning the Democracy Cup and going unbeaten in the GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
Hohoe United, on the other, are stepping onto the big stage for the first time. Backed by passionate support from the Volta Region, the newcomers know the challenge ahead is steep, but they also see tonight as the perfect opportunity to announce themselves to the rest of the league.
With President John Dramani Mahama expected in the stands, the atmosphere promises to be electric.
