Hearts of Oak’s struggles deepened after suffering yet another setback at the hands of Nations FC on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

Following the National Sports Authority’s decision to decline the Phobians’ request to play at the Accra Sports Stadium, the match was held at the Tuba Astroturf.

Unfortunately, Hearts of Oak fell short once again, losing 0-1, further adding to their mounting woes as pressure intensifies on the team.

In a bid to turn the club’s fortunes around, coach Aboubakar Ouattara fielded a strong lineup, with Kelvin Osei Asibey and Konadu Yiadom taking charge of the defense. Notably absent from the matchday squad was Benjamin Asare.

For Nations FC, captain Razak Simpson returned to lead the team and organize the defense, standing firm against Hearts of Oak’s attacking efforts.

The first half saw a tense, tactical battle. With both sides desperate for points, the intensity soared in the second half.

Ultimately, it took a moment of individual brilliance from Simpson, who unleashed a stunning strike from over 25 yards out. The goal, his fourth of the season, proved decisive as Nations FC held on to secure a vital three points.

The victory propels Nations FC to fourth place in the league with 39 points, while Hearts of Oak slip to sixth place with 37 points, further denting their hopes of claiming the league title.

Hearts of Oak have now managed just four points from their last five games, with one win, one draw, and three losses. The defeat marked their first loss to Nations FC in their last four encounters in the Ghana Premier League.

Ouattara’s men remain winless in their last four games as they prepare to face the 2023 champions, Medeama SC.
