Former Accra Hearts of Oak Board Member, Isaac Tetteh, popularly known as TT Brothers, has lamented over a debt owed him by the club during his time with them.

Narrating the incident, he explained that there was a period when the Accra-based club faced financial constraints and approached Societe Generale bank for a loan but were denied.

As the player welfare manager, TT Brothers said he was then approached by club officials to lend them money. Though he was initially hesitant, he eventually gave his consent; however, he maintains that he has yet to receive a single cedi in payment.

There is no honesty in Ghana football – TT Brothers

“They were playing in the FA Cup and it was a difficult time, so Hearts went to SG Bank for a loan but their documents were rejected. Somehow, they knew my account was in SG Bank and that I was doing well, so they wanted me to secure a loan. I didn’t like loans because of the interest and other issues. The money in the account was for a foreign partner, I was just an agent overseeing it.

“Two people appealed to me, and although someone warned me against it, I eventually signed the document. The money was handed over to Hearts officials. They knew it wasn’t free, yet after all these years, not even one cedi has been paid back. I was also transferring funds for Kasapreko abroad, and when the money didn’t go through, it became a debt I had to settle myself,” TT Brothers said in Twi during an interview with Ernest Brew Smith.

The CEO and Managing Director of TT Brothers Limited further disclosed that late former presidents Jerry John Rawlings and Prof John Evans Atta Mills intervened, speaking to his business partners and urging Hearts of Oak management to settle the debt.

However, despite these interventions, no attempt has been made to pay him back.

“It became a big issue, but at the time, it was late Prof Mills who helped me by speaking to one of the foreign partners, explaining that Hearts owed me and asking them to exercise patience. He also spoke to the club’s management. Late President Rawlings also appealed to them to give me time for Hearts to pay the debt so I could settle my partners,” he added.

TT Brothers concluded by saying he feels betrayed by the club and urged Hearts of Oak to settle the debt, stressing that it continues to stifle his finances.
