Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul Karim is grieving the heartbreaking loss of his three-week-old baby, his first child, who passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, just hours after the team’s match against Bechem United.

Karim, who has been a key figure for Hearts of Oak this season, is currently with his family during this difficult period.

He is expected to return to the team ahead of next week’s high-profile clash against Asante Kotoko.

This season, Karim has made 16 appearances, contributing significantly to Hearts of Oak’s current fourth-place standing in the league.

His presence in midfield has been vital, providing stability and creativity for the Accra-based side.

Before joining Hearts of Oak, Karim spent two impressive seasons with Nations FC, helping the team finish seventh in the 2023/24 season and improving to fifth in the 2024/25 campaign.

His performances there earned him recognition and ultimately paved the way for his move to Hearts of Oak.

The club, teammates, and fans have expressed their condolences to Karim, wishing him strength as he navigates this deep personal loss.

While the midfielder takes time with his family, supporters hope to see him back on the pitch, continuing to showcase the quality and leadership that have defined his career.
