Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani believes his side has the potential to grow into a stronger unit, insisting their pre-season successes are part of a longer rebuilding process.

The Phobians defeated city rivals Accra Great Olympics 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium to lift the 2025 Democracy Cup, with substitute Kwesi Asmah netting the decisive goal in the 70th minute.

Asmah’s strike not only sealed victory but also earned him the Man of the Match award. Despite the triumph, Dramani downplayed expectations, reminding fans that the team remains a “work in progress.”

“It’s still early days yet, we are ready to play [the new league campaign] but there is still a lot of work to improve on,” he said.

The head coach added that his priority is continuous development rather than short-term glory. “

“We are a developmental team, it’s [the team] a work in progress so there’s still some areas to still work on and then we become more formidable,” Dramani explained.

Hearts, who lost the inaugural Democracy Cup to Asante Kotoko last year, will now shift focus to their Ghana Premier League opener against debutants Hohoe United on Friday, September 12.
