    This is the shocking moment a digger driver went on a rampage, ramming a car off the road before smashing into the side of a Post Office.

    A large yellow machine was captured being driven at speed chasing two men down a road.

    The video was snapped on the A58 in Wigan on Tuesday. 

    In the horrifying clip, the driver appears to ram into the vehicle in front – forcing it to skid down the road and up a grass verge.

    Horrified onlookers can be heard shouting as the crash unfolds.

    The digger is then spotted at a stand-still, next to a knocked over a traffic light. It seemed to have into a Post Office at the junction of Platt Street and Walthew Lane.

    Police rushed to the scene of the crash and cordoned off the area.

    Surrounding streets were gridlocked at rush hour as emergency crews responded to make the scene safe.

    A man was arrested on suspicion of assault and dangerous driving. He was taken into custody for questioning but has since been bailed.

    Investigations into both crashes remain ongoing.

    Speaking on Tuesday morning, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: ‘At around 9.30am this morning, we received a report of a road traffic collision on Walthew Lane in Platt Bridge, Wigan involving a digger.

    ‘A scene remains in place whilst enquiries continue but the road is now reopened. A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and dangerous driving. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 195 of March 4, 2025.’
