Asante Kotoko stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches and maintained their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League after a 1-1 draw with Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Justice Blay opened the scoring for Kotoko with a sublime finish in added time of the first half, giving the visitors a slender lead heading into the break.

However, Heart of Lions responded swiftly, equalising just two minutes after the restart through Fawzi Ali. The second half produced end-to-end action, with both sides pushing for a winner, but neither could find the clinical touch in front of goal.

Despite being held, Kotoko will consider the point a valuable one as they extended their advantage at the summit to two points, thanks to Bibiani Gold Stars’ defeat to Dreams FC.

The Porcupine Warriors remain in control of the title race and will now turn their attention to a home fixture against Bechem United, where they aim to continue their impressive form.

For Heart of Lions, the draw keeps them in third place, preserving their strong standing in the league. They were competitive throughout and showed resilience to come from behind. Lions will next face Berekum Chelsea, another side in the hunt for a top-four finish.

The result leaves both teams with something to build on as the title race and battle for top-four positions continue to heat up in the final stretch of the season.
