Health Minister donates Anaesthetic Machines to Korle-Bu and UGMC

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has presented anaesthetic machines to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to help improve healthcare delivery in Ghana.

The donation is part of government’s plan to distribute 50 anaesthesia machines to health facilities across the country.

Under the initiative, UGMC received three machines, while Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital received eight.

The Ministry of Health posted on its social media pages that the initiative forms part of government’s broader effort to retool and strengthen health facilities to ensure that every Ghanaian has access to quality healthcare.

The Minister directed that the donated machines be put to immediate use and urged health professionals to treat patients with dignity and compassion.

He advised hospitals to create channels that allow patients to share feedback on services.

He further announced plans to post more medical doctors to district health facilities across the country to promote fair access to healthcare.

He encouraged newly posted doctors to accept postings to rural areas, where their services are most needed.

The post added that the Chief Executive Officers of UGMC and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the timely support, noting that the anaesthetic machines will greatly enhance their surgical and anaesthetic services.
