Minister of Lands and Natural Resources-designate, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah Minister of Lands and Natural Resources-designate, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources-designate, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has highlighted key priorities he intends to focus on if given the nod to become the sector minister.

According to him, the effects of illegal mining must be mitigated to restore the affected water bodies and forest reserves.

Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 27, 2025, he said as part of his priorities, he will make “sure that in areas where rivers have been polluted are healed.”

He said, “We need to heal our forests to bring back our biodiversity and ecology and even plant more trees.”

Armah-Kofi also said he would encourage people to do safe mining, instead of mining in water bodies leading to the pollution of water bodies.

Secondly, he noted that he would lead the lands ministry to operate to allow citizens “to access certain services in a very efficient manner.”

The effects of illegal mining have become a topical issue in recent times as water bodies have become affected and unsafe for their habitat.
