A Nigerian bride’s response to her husband’s surprise gift has sparked online interest as she opted to prioritize the cash gift over the heartfelt message attached to the gift on their wedding day.

In a heartfelt video, the dressed-up bride received a surprise: a customized pink box filled with bundles of ₦1,000 notes and a handwritten note from her husband, just as she was preparing for her photo session.

The bride’s eyes seemed almost on the verge of tears after discovering the mint notes in the box. The lady was emotional but resisted her urge to cry to avoid smudging her facial makeover.

Following the unboxing, she demonstrated a practical preference for cash gifts by tossing the attached handwritten note and proceeding to count the number of cash bundles.

Instead of being touched by the heartfelt message, the bride showed greater appreciation for the monetary gift.

Some Internet users suggested the man should have hidden the note beneath the cash bundles, others accused the bride of being a materialistic woman for prioritizing money over her husband’s emotions.

    Below are some reactions,

@ossybrown The note is more important than the money but y’all just too materialistic these days. Smh

@special_abdul The note was the most important part of this gift but she first fling am😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

@armstrong_umoren Too much unnecessary drama going on here. Mtcheew. I wonder what would have happened if he only sent the note, and sent the money later….

@morgano204 She got emotional with the money, aunty read the damn note.😂😂😂😂

@bims_sweettreats He should have put the note under the notes 😂
