    An Influencer on X (Twitter) has sparked reactions online after he disclosed that a man he offered financial help to lost all the money to betting.

    According to his tweet, the man whom he had never met reached out to him on the platform, claiming he needed a small push to grow his business and promised to repay the money on an agreed date.

    He also claimed his wife had recently undergone a cesarean section, a fabricated sob story that the influencer believed at the time.

    Moved by the plea, the influencer said he transferred ₦2.2 million to the man, expecting him to invest it in the stated business.

    However, he later discovered that the entire sum had been squandered on betting.

    The man has since reportedly pleaded for forgiveness, while his wife offered to repay the money at 100,000 per month.

    The influencer said he has handed the matter over to the authorities for resolution and lamented that the experience has made him skeptical of online requests for financial assistance.

    Below are some reactions;

    “Werey said money is with BetKing.”

    “The audacity and sheer wickedness! Reeks of ‘do your worst’“

    “This is terrible. I have a story to share, too. But not today, most of these online help don’t end well. Made me realize a lot of people don’t necessarily need money to grow, they just have the wrong habit, the reason they are financially static.“
