Ghanaian comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, has praised former President John Dramani Mahama for abolishing the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), Betting Tax, Emission Levy, and others

In a post shared on X on April 2, 2025, DKB commended Mahama for being a man of his word, fulfilling a major promise made during the 2024 election campaign season.

He emphasised that he has no regrets about campaigning for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 elections, as the political party has consistently demonstrated trustworthiness and a track record of keeping promises.

“He promised, and he delivered. I haven’t regretted campaigning for an honest, truthful, reliable, and trustworthy President @JDMahama. E-Levy, betting tax, and other unnecessary taxes have been successfully cancelled,” he wrote.

DKB then went ahead and teased the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Yo NPP folks, can you believe JM has really signed to abolish E-Levy, betting tax, and other nuisance taxes? I’m not impressed at all. Can you guys come up with complaints about it so that I’ll join?” he added.

On April 2, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama assented to a series of legislative bills meant to abolish several taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), Betting Tax, and Emissions Tax.
