The State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has commissioned a 24-hour Premium and Express Service Centre, a move it says marks a major shift in public-sector service delivery and customer engagement.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Managing Director of SHC said the facility reflects the company’s renewed focus on efficiency, transparency and citizen-centred service in line with the government’s Reset Agenda.

“From today, our clients can engage this centre 24 hours a day, either via phone or in person, to process documents, make payments, resolve tenancy issues and receive timely assistance without unnecessary delays,” he said.

According to him, the new service centre represents “respect for the time and needs of the Ghanaian people,” adding that it will significantly reduce waiting times and improve customer experience.

The Managing Director disclosed that upon assuming office in early 2025, management embarked on the development of a medium-term strategic plan aimed at strengthening SHC’s mandate beyond housing delivery.

“Our mandate goes beyond just building houses. It includes providing a high level of service to our clients and making the highest and best use of the assets under our care for the benefit of the Government and people of Ghana,” he stated.

As part of this strategy, SHC plans to complete over 300 housing units by the end of 2026 across various parts of the country.

In addition, advanced plans are underway to pilot urban redevelopment projects at Kaneshie, Kanda, Adenta and Effiakuma estates in Takoradi, a move expected to add more than 500 housing units in the short to medium term.

“The urban redevelopment project is a critical part of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s vision of repurposing ageing government estates in urban centres to provide increased housing,” the Managing Director noted.

SHC is also preparing to launch the Dedesua Housing Project at the Garden City in Kumasi within the first half of 2026. The large-scale development is expected to deliver over 1,000 housing units, along with supporting infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and recreational facilities.

On estate management, the Managing Director announced the successful renewal of headleases for five major SHC estates—Teshie Nungua, Achimota, North Labone, East Cantonments and Kaneshie.

“This is only the second time in the history of the company that headleases have been renewed,” he said, adding that enforcement actions will soon begin to reclaim SHC assets currently occupied without consent.

SHC is also participating in several Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources projects, including the Greenville District Housing Scheme, the completion of abandoned affordable housing projects in Koforidua, Wa and Tamale, and 25 per cent of the Pokuase Housing Project.

Collectively, these projects are expected to deliver over 2,000 housing units nationwide upon completion.

The Managing Director further revealed that SHC is executing seven regional headquarters buildings for the Ghana Immigration Service, along with residential apartments in Tamale and Takoradi, and is in discussions with the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Prisons Service on similar projects.

The Managing Director said the 24-hour service centre aligns with the government’s Reset Agenda, which seeks to reform public institutions and restore public confidence.

“Ghanaians are calling for a new way of doing business in the public sector—faster, more responsive, transparent and citizen-focused,” he said. “Resetting the nation includes resetting how we serve.”

He stressed that infrastructure alone will not define service excellence.

“The building alone does not define excellence. It is the professionalism, empathy and integrity of our staff that will,” he told SHC personnel assigned to operate the centre.

Concluding his address, the Managing Director said SHC’s broader mission is to strengthen public trust in state institutions.

“The State Housing Company is not just building houses. We are building trust. We are building systems. We are building a modern public institution that aligns with national priorities,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, the SHC Board, management and staff for their support, and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of “Building the Ghana We Want.”
