Turkish club, Hatayspor has paid a heartfelt tribute to former Ghana international, Christian Atsu on the third anniversary of his passing, honoring the late midfielder’s time with the club and his enduring legacy.

In a video released by the club, a young boy wearing Atsu’s jersey number was seen playing football as clips of the Ghanaian star’s moments at Hatayspor played alongside.

The earthquake, which registered 7.8 on the Richter scale and caused widespread destruction across southeastern Turkey and northern Syria, claimed tens of thousands of lives. Atsu was later found in the rubble, leaving the football world in mourning.

Before joining Hatayspor from Saudi Arabian side Al Raed, Atsu spent five years playing in England, showcasing his talent with clubs including Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Everton.

His arrival at Hatayspor brought experience and flair to the Turkish side, and he quickly became a fan favorite for his skill, work ethic, and infectious spirit on and off the pitch.

The video captures both the joy he brought during his career and the deep sense of loss felt by fans, teammates, and the wider football community three years on.
