Cyber hackers have targeted Australia’s biggest super fund – stopping members accessing their accounts with some losing money.

AustralianSuper has confirmed its security was breached with the fund’s chief member officer Rose Kerlin urging members to check their accounts.

‘We are highlighting this event to make sure members are alert and take all possible precautions to protect their retirement savings,’ she said.

‘If members’ details are correct, they don’t need to call us.’

AustralianSuper members were unable to log into their accounts on Friday afternoon with a red alert message.

‘Sorry, our service is currently not available. Please try again later,’ it said.
