New Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres has explained why he signed for Arsenal instead of the Premier League clubs.

Arsenal and Sporting CP were engaged in weeks of negotiations.

The two sides agreed on a deal worth €63.5million plus €10 million in add-ons.

Most Gunners fans have been calling on the club to sign a striker prior to the club falling short in the Premier League for the last three seasons.

Despite finishing second in every campaign, Arsenal remains a serious title contender in the next season.

Speaking in his first interview as an Arsenal player, the Swedish star said that Arsenal was the only club on his mind.

“I just felt that it was the right club for me,”

“What I heard from Mikel and Andrea when I was speaking with them, and what I’ve seen in the past years convinced me. I also like how they’ve been playing football,” he said on Arsenal TV.

He will wear the iconic Number 14 shirt, previously worn by club legend Thierry Henry.

Interestingly, his first competitive match for Arsenal will be against Amorim’s Man United on August 17, 2025 at Old Trafford.
