Army Ladies continued their push for the top spot in the Southern Zone of the Ghana Women’s Premier League after securing a narrow victory over Halifax Queens over the weekend.
Army Ladies, who are currently three points behind league leaders Hasaacas Ladies, maintained pressure on the summit with a hard-fought win at Mats Park. The security side relied on an own goal to overcome the relegation-threatened Halifax Queens.
Meanwhile, Hasaacas Ladies extended their impressive unbeaten run, which dates back to last year, with a victory over Epiphany Warriors in Accra. The Sekondi-based side secured the win thanks to a second-half penalty converted by Grace Ntsiful after Milot Pokuaa was brought down in the box.
Elsewhere in the Southern Zone, Soccer Intellectuals and LadyStrikers played out a goalless draw, while Oak Ladies came from behind to defeat Police Ladies 2–1.
Samartex Ladies also left it late to edge Jonina Ladies 2–1 in Samreboi.
In the Northern Zone, Prisons Ladies beat Northern City Ladies 3–0, while Tamale Super Ladies claimed victory against Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
Kumasi Sports Academy boosted their survival hopes with a 2–0 away win over Dreamz Ladies, while FC Savannah and Fosu Royals also recorded wins against Ashtown Ladies and Northern Ladies respectively.
