Tragedy Strikes Bawku: Gunmen Kill 2 Brothers Attending Father’s Funeral Amid Ongoing Chieftaincy Conflict.

On October 27, 2024, two brothers, Abee Waqas and his sibling, were brutally murdered by unknown gunmen while returning from their father’s funeral in Bawku. The brothers were initially denied entry into Bawku township due to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict.

The attackers ambushed the brothers, killing the elderly one instantly. Abee Waqas was also shot and killed after attempting to explain their situation. The youngest brother escaped by fleeing into the bush.

This incident is linked to the resurfaced Bawku Conflict, which has raised security concerns. Gunmen have blocked roads, targeting travelers. Eight travelers were killed near Gbimsi.

The Ghana Police Service has deployed personnel to maintain peace and security. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and expect increased security presence.

The community is shocked, and police are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
