The Upper East Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) celebrated this year’s National Chocolate Day with an outreach programme at the Navrongo Central Prison, sharing cocoa products with inmates and officers as part of efforts to spread goodwill and inclusion.

The team presented Made-in-Ghana chocolate and other cocoa-based products to both officers and inmates, reinforcing the national campaign to promote local cocoa consumption while extending encouragement to those behind bars.

The event formed part of activities under the broader “Experience Ghana, Share the Cocoa Love” initiative, which highlights the cultural and economic importance of cocoa while fostering a sense of community.

In attendance were the Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kasena Nankana, the Municipal Police Commander, other stakeholders, and members of the public.

Together, they delivered a central message of hope, assuring inmates that they are not forgotten and that there remains a path toward rehabilitation and reintegration.

Similarly, the GTA’s Volta Regional Office extended the celebration to inmates at the Ho Female Prison, where officials also distributed chocolate and cocoa products as part of National Chocolate Week activities.

The gesture aimed to share what the authority described as “the cocoa love” and encourage inmates as they work toward rebuilding their lives.

The authority said the outreach underscores how National Chocolate Week is not only about promoting Ghana’s cocoa heritage but also about touching lives and strengthening social inclusion across communities.
