A body found in a burnt-out car is believed to be that of a 45-year-old woman who was involved in a violent kidnapping in Sydney‘s south-west.

Police were called to a home in Bankstown at 10:30pm on Thursday night after a group of armed attackers forced their way in.

They allegedly attacked an eight-year-old boy with a baseball bat before forcing the woman into an SUV and driving away.

The boy was treated by paramedics for serious head injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

A 15-year-old boy was also in the home at the time and taken to hospital for assessment. Police said both boys are known to the woman.

An hour later, emergency services were called to a car fire 10 minutes away at Welfare Avenue in Beverly Hills.

After the blaze was extinguished, a body was discovered inside the burnt-out car.

The body is yet to be formally identified but is suspected to be the 45-year-old Bankstown woman.
