Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, Samuel Aboabire has appealed to the government to designate one of the national stadiums exclusively for use by the national teams.

According to the Football Association chairman, games involving the national teams should be played at a specific stadium.

This appeal comes after the Confederation of African Football withdrew its approval for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium due to technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field.

The decision followed Ghana’s loss to Angola on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

It was also determined that the stadium failed to meet the required standards for hosting Category 3 international matches.

Speaking on Onua TV, Aboabire urged the government to make one of the national stadiums accessible only to the various national teams.

“The government should consider allocating one stadium exclusively for the national team,” he told Onua Sports.

The ban on Baba Yara Sports Stadium has led the Ghana Football Association to switch to the Accra Sports Stadium as the home ground for the national teams.

The stadium hosted the Black Stars’ 2-1 loss to Niger in the final game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Galaxies also hosted Nigeria at the Accra Sports Stadium for their 2025 African Nations Championship qualifying game.
