Ghanaian gospel musician Great Ampong has opened up about his strained past with the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, revealing that he will nonetheless attend the one-week observance of the veteran artiste.

The two musicians fell out years ago over a botched financial deal, sparking a heated dispute that led to a long-standing feud.

Their rift became one of the most publicized disagreements in the Ghanaian music industry.

With Daddy Lumba’s one-week observance scheduled for August 30 at the Independence Square, many fans speculated that Ampong might be absent from the event due to their history.

However, in an interview with veteran broadcaster and music promoter Otwinoko, Great Ampong confirmed that he plans to attend with his crew to pay his respect.

Ampong disclosed that he has already forgiven Daddy Lumba, stressing that he bears no grudges despite their fallout.

“I loved Daddy Lumba despite everything. I forgave him in 2023, and since then, I have stopped talking about our issues,” he told Otwinoko.

The gospel star also brushed aside threats from individuals warning him not to attend, noting that he remains unshaken and is focused solely on honoring the memory of the late highlife icon.

Daddy Lumba, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musicians, passed away recently.

Preparations are underway for his one-week observance, which is expected to draw thousands of fans, colleagues and industry stakeholders.
