Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was accorded a rapturous reception into Upper West Regional Capital, Wa, earlier today as he began a tour of the Region, and the north.

Party supporters, adorned in the party’s blue, red and white colours, rode on motorbikes to welcome the former Vice President from the outskirts of the regional capital, and rode with him to the first destination of his campaign engagement at Wechiaw in the Wa West Constituency.

There, party stalwarts in the region, including former appointees of the erstwhile government, parliamentary candidates as well as a host of grassroot members met him upon his arrival, amidst traditional drums, singing and dancing.

Dr Bawumia then made a grand entry into the hall, where he addressed NPP delegates and supporters.

From there, he continued to Wa Central where he held similar engagements with an enthusiastic crowd, which showed open support for his bid to be retained as the NPP’s Flagbearer for the 2028 elections.

Dr Bawumia, who has been engaging delegates and party faithful across the country, is scheduled to also tour the Upper East and the North East Region in the coming days.

He has so far toured the Ahafo, Bono, None East, Western North, Western, Oti, Volta, Central and Eastern Regions respectively, ahead of the NPP’s January 31 election to elect a Flagbearer.
