Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reiterated the NDCs administration inflexible dedication to revitalizing the moribund Komenda Sugar Factory, with the overarching objective of galvanizing economic growth and augmenting the socio-economic well-being of the regional populace.

During a recent visit to the venerable Komenda Traditional Area, the Vice President solemnly pledged to expedite the rehabilitation of the community’s decrepit road infrastructure, which residents vociferously claim has precipitated a plethora of health issues attributable to the pernicious effects of dust and infrastructural decay.

The Paramount Chief of the Komenda Traditional Area, the illustrious Okatakyi Komey VIII, seized the occasion to fervently implore the Vice President to prioritize the operationalization of the sugar factory, underscoring its pivotal role in the government’s ambitious 24-hour economy initiative. With unbridled conviction, he emphasized that the factory possesses vast potential to generate a myriad of employment opportunities and catalyze local economic development, thereby fostering a paradigm shift in the socio-economic fortunes of not only Komenda but also its contiguous communities.

“The factory holds immense potential to create jobs and stimulate local economic development not just for Komenda, but for surrounding communities as well,” Okatakyi Komey VIII averred with unshakeable conviction.

He expressed profound concern over the factory’s prolonged dormancy, lamenting the eight-year hiatus as a significant impediment to the area’s development trajectory.

The Paramount Chief also highlighted the imperative need to rectify the roads, which he noted have been a persistent source of respiratory health challenges among residents, thereby underscoring the urgent necessity for infrastructural intervention.

In a statesmanlike response, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang acknowledged the protracted non-operation of the sugar factory as an unacceptable anomaly and assured the chiefs and people of Komenda of the government’s resolve to revive the factory.

“The prolonged non-operation of the sugar factory is unacceptable,” she declared with resolute determination.

The Vice President’s visit formed part of a gratitude tour aimed at expressing profound appreciation to the people of Komenda for their unwavering support during the 2024 general elections.

The event drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Political Advisor to the Vice President; Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts; Samuel Atta Mills, Member of Parliament for the area; and other high-ranking officials, thereby underscoring the government’s commitment to collaborative governance.
