President John Dramani Mahama President John Dramani Mahama

A governance analyst and lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Dr Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, has warned that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s failure to take decisive action against Anne Sansa Daly, could harm its reputation.

According to him, if those found culpable in this case are not sanctioned, it will erode the public’s trust in the government and undermine its moral authority to hold other offenders accountable.

“That’s certain because some people have stolen goats and they have gone to jail for it. So, how do you expect that a person who has misled the entire country and told big lies will go unpunished? That should not be.

“If that happens, what moral right will we have as a people and as a country to punish somebody who slaps another person – on grounds of physical assault. Can we insist on prosecuting such a person? We will not have the moral right to do that if we let Daly’s case go unpunished,” he told GhanaWeb on June 1, 2025.

He argued that if the government takes action in this case, it will serve as a deterrent to others who may attempt to seek government or public service appointments with questionable backgrounds and credentials.

“So, we have to use this as a point of reference to correct the anomaly of people who think that they can deceive the country.

“Look, somewhere on her CV, she has written that she did a course at the University of Ghana but that course she mentioned does not even exist. It’s pure fraud. If you don’t punish her, what moral right will you have to punish others should they go wrong?” he remarked.

Anne Sansa Daly’s appointment was revoked by President John Dramani Mahama following public outrage over her appointment and questionable credentials.
