The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revitalizing Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.

According to him, advanced plans are in place to restore growth and rebuild investor confidence in the industry.

Delivering the keynote address at the 2025 Local Content Conference and Exhibition on November 5, 2025, Jinapor highlighted the sector’s current challenges, citing a 32 percent decline in oil production and reduced exploration activity since 2019.

He noted that despite these setbacks, Ghana is charting a new path for growth through regulatory reforms, fiscal incentives, and a renewed emphasis on local content development.

“Despite recent challenges, including a 32% decline in oil production since 2019 and reduced exploration activity, decisive actions are underway to restore investor confidence and strengthen local participation,” he stated.

Jinapor added that the government is working to foster collaboration among stakeholders to ensure an inclusive energy transition aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda.

“Ghana’s upstream industry is undergoing renewal, and together, we will build a resilient, competitive, and future-ready energy economy,” he concluded.
