Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that the government intends to pay Ghana Premier League (GPL) players allowances to encourage them.

He explained that this measure is to fulfill the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) promise to pay allowances to GPL players during the 2024 general elections.

The Member of Parliament for Buem noted that President John Dramani Mahama is focused on honoring his promise to alleviate the players’ financial constraints.

“Government has made a promise to pay Ghana Premier League players allowances, and we intend to keep that promise,” he said, as shared by GhOne TV on X.

Kofi Adams made this comment when President John Mahama visited the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on March 19, 2025.

The minister reiterated that the NDC government is committed to fulfilling its manifesto promises on sports after Ghanaians gave them an overwhelming victory in the 2024 general elections.
