Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has announced that plans are underway to resolve the ongoing feud between Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

According to the Minister, he has already engaged some stakeholders and intends to mediate what appears to be an escalating dispute between the two traditional leaders.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, which has since been shared on social media, Ibrahim stressed the importance of using Chieftaincy to foster national development.

“In Ghana, we can also use our Chieftaincy to develop the country. When we had the Dagbon issue, was it not Opemsuo (Otumfuo Osei Tutu II) who resolved it?

“As Minister responsible for Chieftaincy, I have spoken to some people about this matter, and we will engage them further. So, we will speak to them. This is the first time I am saying it. I respect authority,” he stated.

The dispute stems from historical claims, which Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, believes are being misrepresented in the public domain.

He has consistently challenged several historical narratives, including those relating to the controversial Golden Stool, which he argues was distorted.

The Asantehene, on the other hand, once responded directly to the Dormaahene over issues concerning the elevation of the Fiapre Paramountcy, further fueling tensions between the two sides.
