The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has said that the government is negotiating with some international companies to generate funds for the construction of new stadiums in the country.

He indicated that discussions are underway with some companies from Turkey, with the hope of reaching an agreement with those organizations.

The Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency noted that if the talks are successful, some existing stadiums in poor condition will be rehabilitated to give them a good shape.

Kofi Adams stressed that the initiative forms part of the government’s commitment to improve sporting infrastructure in the country to meet international standards.

“Sports minister Kofi Adams emphasises Ghana’s interest in working with Turkish companies to upgrade existing stadia and construct new, modern sports facilities to meet international standards,” EIB Sports reported.

The remark comes as the National Sports Authority is working on renovating the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to restore it to its original state.
