Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has taken to social media to call out the government and the creative arts industry for what he describes as a lack of understanding and appreciation for the work of content creators.

In a post shared on his X page, Shatta Wale expressed frustration at the neglect content creators face from the very institutions meant to support the arts.

“I don’t think the creative arts industry in Ghana and even Ghana and Ghana government truly understands who content creators are,” he wrote.

According to the On God hitmaker, content creation is not some random hustle rather it’s a full-time job, a business, and for many, a lifeline.

He painted a picture of creators who work tirelessly behind the scenes, often with little to no support.

“These individuals have chosen this path, sacrificing their time, investing in equipment, building teams, and creating platforms from scratch. It’s not just a hustle; it’s a serious business,” he stated.

The “dancehall king” went further to explain the connection between content creation and the broader entertainment ecosystem, emphasising that the two cannot be separated.

“We need to understand that entertainment and content creation go hand in hand, and with the right support, these platforms can grow and contribute massively to the industry,” he explained.

Shatta Wale also had words for those who downplay the effort it takes to build a career online.

He took aim at the common stereotype that YouTubers and digital creators are simply “making money from YouTube” as if it happens overnight without skill, strategy, or consistency.

“Please don’t say they’re ‘making money from YouTube’ like it’s some overnight success. The education and discipline required to build on YouTube is far deeper than what you’ve been told. It’s not easy, my guy,” he stated.

Shatta Wale further revealed plans to spotlight and uplift content creators through personal interviews.

“That’s why I’m starting interviews with these creators, #Headless, #Savageroom, #Codemicky, #SammyFlexTV, #ZionFelix, and many others, not because of what I’ll gain, but because I believe in helping those who are building something real for Ghana,” he concluded.
