    The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced fresh talks with PayPal to facilitate the integration of the payment platform in Ghana.

    Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, July 2, 2025, the minister revealed that his outfit is actively engaging with PayPal’s African operations team to address the regulatory and technical requirements necessary for PayPal’s services to be fully accessible in the country once again.

    “We reopened engagements with PayPal to ensure full access to its service for Ghanaian users. As of June 2025, PayPal’s regional government relations team has issued Ghana a compliance roadmap outlining the technical regulatory and financial standards required for white list reinstatement. The ministry is working closely with the Bank of Ghana and other key stakeholders to fulfil these conditions and to ensure PayPal also meets the necessary requirements to operate in Ghana,” he stated.

    This renewed effort aims to overcome previous challenges that stalled PayPal’s full entry into the Ghanaian market.

    He added that the ministry is collaborating closely with the Bank of Ghana to meet the checklist of conditions set by PayPal for smooth integration.

    ” I was on a call with the governor of the Bank of Ghana yesterday, trying to streamline all the regulatory issues and I’m sure that in the next couple of weeks, before I do my next quarterly briefing, I should have good news on PayPal integration in Ghana,” he stated.

    The reintroduction of PayPal services is expected to significantly boost Ghana’s digital economy by providing easier payment solutions for freelancers, e-commerce businesses, and digital entrepreneurs who rely on seamless international transactions.
