Kofi Nti is a Highlife musician

Renowned Highlife musician, Kofi Nti, has opened up on why he has not attended church in years, stating that it is not religion but one’s character and good deeds that truly matter to God.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on October 6, 2025, he said it has been about five or six years since he last stepped into a church after noticing that pastors of different denominations constantly criticise each other.

He explained that pastors speaking against other churches prompted him to rethink what faith means in everyday life.

“I was confused, wasn’t it the same God they worship? What was it with all the divisions? Why should a Catholic church be different from a Pentecostal church or an Anglican church?” she said.

The artiste shared that he has discussed spirituality with people from different religions, only to receive the same advice.

“I have spoken with a traditional worshipper and an Imam, and the same advice they gave me was similar to that of what a pastor gave me. They told me ‘In this life, do good deeds, don’t be wicked.’ God will watch over you despite your religion,” he said.

According to him, being part of a religion or denomination alone is not enough to guarantee divine blessings, but rather how one treats others and lives daily.

“I have seen traditional worshippers who lived to the age of 130, even the Chief Imam has lived long. Once you are of good character, no matter the religion you belong to, God will bless you.

“So it is not about your religion, it is about your character. God doesn’t care about whether you go to church or not. It is about how you treat others around you,” he said.
