Nana Kumasah Krampah II, the Omankrado of Gomoa Asempayin and Divisional Omankrado of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area Nyimfa Division, has called on government to invest in Agriculture in the Central Region.

Speaking at the 2025 Ahorbaa Kese festival by the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council in Gomoa Assin, Central Region he called for government intervention in agriculture development in the region.

He believes the region has vast agricultural potentials, making it an attractive investment destination.

“The region boasts high yields of maize, cassava, plantain, and pineapple, with opportunities for vegetable production, including pepper, okra, eggplant, cabbage, and watermelon. Additionally, sheep and goat rearing, poultry farming, and snail farming are potential areas for investment in the region,” he said.

According to Nana Kumasah Krampah II, investing in the Central Region’s agriculture can contribute to Ghana’s economic growth, job creation, and export diversification.

“With its diverse range of crops and livestock production opportunities, the Central Region will become an attractive investment destination for agricultural developers and investors.

This approach emphasises the need for collaborative efforts to drive long-term, sustainable development in the sector,” he indicated.

Considering the region’s current weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from 76-77°F (24-25°C) and high humidity levels, he believes the region is best suited for agricultural production.

He stated that the region’s agricultural sector is supported by various development partners, including MOAP GIZ, World Vision Ghana, and SNV, as well as institutions like the University of Cape Coast and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Nana Kumasah Krampah II’s vision for the region’s agricultural development aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s call for development partners to invest in agriculture as partners, not donors.
