Timothee Chalamet has soared over Leonardo DiCaprio – who stars in One Battle After Another – as the betting favorite to win the coveted Best Actor Oscar as he earned the top honor at the Golden Globe Awards 2026 for Marty Supreme (directed by Josh Safdie).

Before Award season it was 51-year-old DiCaprio who was the odds favorite to take home the coveted gong, but now Chalamet is a massive favorite to win the top acting prize at March’s Academy Awards according to regulated exchange and prediction market Kalshi.

However, DiCaprio’s flick One Battle After Another (directed by Paul Thomas Anderson) did earn the last laugh at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday night as the film not only triumphed over Chalamet’s project but also beat out Blue Moon, Bugonia, No Other Choice and Nouvelle Vague for Best Picture – Comedy Or Musical.

One Battle After Another was the most awarded film of the night with four wins but will no doubt face stiff competition in the Oscars race from Hamnet (directed by Chloe Zhao) as it earned the last award of the night in the Best Picture – Drama category over Frankenstein, It Was Just An Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Sinners.

On the television side, it was The Pitt (created by R Scott Gemmill), The Studio (created by Evan Goldberg, Alex Gregory, and Peter Huyck), and Adolescence (created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne) which earned wins in the drama, comedy or musical, and limited series categories, respectively.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Chalamet surely had tongues wagging as he barely acknowledged girlfriend Kylie Jenner during his acceptance speech for Marty Supreme.

The French-speaking actor had another major awards show moment as he earned Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and abruptly ended his speech by saying: ‘To my parents and partner, I love you. Thank you so much.’

It was noticeably a much more muted acknowledgement for Jenner, 28, as he boldly declared his love for her at last week’s Critics Choice Awards 2026.

Chalamet beat out an impressive field led by Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another as the field also featured: George Clooney – Jay Kelly, Ethan Hawke – Blue Moon, Lee Byung-Hun – No Other Choice, and Jesse Plemons – Bugonia.

He did graciously thank his fellow nominees during his acceptance speech as he said: ‘Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. I am in a category with many greats. I look up to all of you, this category is stacked. Thank you.’

In the film, Chalamet portrays Marty Mauser – a young man with a dream of ping-pong stardom that no one respects, but he goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.

One Battle After Another led the night’s winners with four including the aforementioned Best Picture – Comedy Or Musical gong along with Best Director and Screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson and a surprise Best Supporting Actress win for Teyana Taylor.

Thomas Anderson beat out Ryan Coogler – Sinners, Guillermo del Toro – Frankenstein, Jafar Panahi – It Was Just an Accident, Joachim Trier – Sentimental Value, and Chloé Zhao – Hamnet for Best Director – Motion Picture.

The 55-year-old filmmaker was also recognized in the Best Screenplay category over Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie – Marty Supreme, Ryan Coogler – Sinners, Jafar Panahi – It Was Just an Accident, and Maggie O’Farrell – Hamnet.

The American black comedy action thriller centers on a group of ex-revolutionaries who reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own after their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years.

Meanwhile, Taylor kicked off the Golden Globe Awards 2026 in fantastic form as she took home the first win of the night in the Best Supporting Actress category.

The 35-year-old actress was tearful as she was recognized for her work in One Battle After Another (directed by Paul Thomas Anderson) which she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

She beat out an impressive field including: Emily Blunt – The Smashing Machine, Elle Fanning – Sentimental Value, Ariana Grande – Wicked: For Good, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas – Sentimental Value, and likely favorite Amy Madigan –  Weapons.

Last week, it was 75-year-old Madigan who triumphed in the same category at the Critics Choice Awards 2026 for her work in thriller Weapons (directed and written by Zach Cregger).

Taylor is a mother of two – Iman ‘Junie’ Tayla Shumpert Jr, ten , and Rue Rose Shumpert, five – as she joked that both her children are watching her shining moment at the Beverly Hilton.

During her speech she said: ‘My babies! My babies are upstairs watching. Y’all to beat off them damn phones and watching me right now!’

In One Battle After Another, Taylor portrays Perfidia Beverly Hills, a member of far-left revolutionary group French 75, who is also mother to Chase Infinity’s character Willa Ferguson.

However, DiCaprio's flick One Battle After Another (directed by Paul Thomas Anderson) did earn the last laugh at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday night as the film not only triumphed over Chalamet's project but also beat out Blue Moon, Bugonia, No Other Choice, and Nouvelle Vague for Best Picture - Comedy Or Musical

One Battle After Another has already had a very successful Awards Season 2026 run but will face a formidable opponent in Hamnet – starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal – which earned the top prize Best Picture – Drama.

The Chloé Zhao-directed and written film takes place after Agnes and William Shakespeare (Buckley and Paul Mescal) lose their son Hamnet to the plague and grapple with grief in 16th-century England, based on the novel of the same name.

Buckley earned one of the top acting gongs of the night as she earned Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama.

The 36-year-old Irish actress triumphed over an A-list field including: Jennifer Lawrence – Die, My Love, Renate Reinsve – Sentimental Value, Julia Roberts – After the Hunt, Tessa Thompson – Hedda, and Eva Victor – Sorry, Baby.

Agnes is a healer who must find strength to care for her surviving children while processing her devastating loss.

On the television side, it was Netflix’s Adolescence that had the biggest night as it swept their categories including 16-year-old star Owen Cooper becoming one of the youngest Golden Globe Awards winners of all-time.

The teenage actor was recognized in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role — TV Series, Limited series or TV Movie category.

He was up against: Billy Crudup – The Morning Show, Walton Goggins – The White Lotus, Jason Isaac – The White Lotus, Tramell Tillman – Severance, and Ashley Walters – Adolescence.

Cooper sweetly thanked his parents as he opened up about how much his role on the series changed their lives.

He said: ‘What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through. We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family.’

The talented actor also ended his speech with a shout-out to his beloved Liverpool FC, telling the audience ‘You’ll never walk alone,’ which is the anthem for the iconic football club.

Cooper was not the youngest winner of all-time as Ricky Schroder won now-defunct category New Star Of The Year for his role in the 1979 film the Champ.

In Adolescence, Cooper portrays a 13-year-old named Jamie Miller who is accused of the murder of a classmate while his family, therapist, and the detective in charge are all left asking what really happened.

His Adolescence co-star Stephen Graham later earned Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for TV.

The 52-year-old actor – who also co-created the limited series – beat out: Jacob Elordi – The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Paul Giamatti – Black Mirror, Charlie Hunnam – Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Jude Law – Black Rabbit, and Matthew Rhys – The Beast in Me.

He portrays Eddie Miller who is father to Cooper’s character Jamie who emerges as a loving and supportive father amid ugly allegations about his son.
