A 19-year-old man has been charged following an alleged hit and run on the Gold Coast on Sunday morning.

A male pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was hospitalised after he was allegedly struck by a silver Nissan dual cab ute at Burleigh Heads.

Police and emergency services were called to Goodwin Terrace at about 1.10am after a 28-year-old man, from Deception Bay, was struck before he was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Police have alleged he was struck by the silver ute which did not stop and continued driving.

Police earlier on Sunday released an image of the vehicle, which was allegedly involved in the incident, as they sought public assistance.

Just after 5am on Sunday, police arrested a 19-year-old man at Coomera.

The man, from Pimpama on the Gold Coast, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and failing to remain at an incident and render assistance.

He is scheduled to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on November 4.
