Ghanaian socialite Efia Odo has strongly criticised some pastors in Ghana, accusing them of commercialising religion and turning God into a commodity for profit.

Her comments, shared on X on November 7, 2025, were made amid growing online discussions about youth-centred churches and questionable practices within some religious circles.

She explained that some pastors have idolised themselves as God by persuading members to worship them instead of their creator.

“It’s sad how many have made God into their own image. They have reshaped Him to fit their desires, agendas, and ambitions, not realizing that the Creator cannot be molded by creation,” she said.

The socialite additionally noted that God is not a product to be sold to the highest bidder, as implied by some men of God.

God does not live in church buildings – Efia Odo wades into online debate

According to Efia Odo, true ministry doesn’t manipulate or exploit, as done by some churches in the country.

“True faith doesn’t exploit; it uplifts. True ministry doesn’t manipulate; it serves. God was never meant to be a product sold to the highest bidder. His love cannot be marketed, and His grace cannot be franchised. God forgive these self-appointed leaders,” she added.

Her comments come amid renewed discussions on X on November 5, 2025, about the rise of youth-focused church movements in Ghana and alleged negative experiences shared by some former members during the Space.
