The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has officially set April 26, 2025, as the new date for its highly anticipated elective Congress.

This decision was made during the GOC’s Annual Congress on Saturday January 25, at the Conference room of the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.

Originally scheduled for March 15, the election date was postponed due to scheduling conflicts, including the ANOCA elections and the Winter Olympics.

GOC President, Ben Nunoo Mensah, stated that this change will facilitate a smoother transition for the incoming leadership. “Shifting the date allows the new administration to begin afresh without overlapping events,” he explained.

Former GOC President, Professor Francis Dodoo, had previously suggested an earlier date in April, which prompted discussions among members.

The proposal to set April 26 as the election date was put forward by Ghana Athletics President, Bawah Fuseini, who emphasised that this timeline would provide adequate opportunity to address any unresolved issues before the election.

His motion received support from Ghana Rowing and Canoeing President, Kamal Sulley, and was unanimously approved by Congress.

Congress appointed a three-member team made up of former Ghana Boxing Association President, Peter R. Zwennes Esq., Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Treasurer, Ibrahim Ali, and D.C.O.P Lydia Donkor to oversee the electoral Process.
