The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team at Konongo–Odumase has successfully extricated two passengers who were trapped in a pre-dawn accident at Asankare in the Asante Akim South Municipality.
According to a report from the Command, the incident occurred at about 4:59 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
A Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GR 622-22, driven by one Kudjo, reportedly crashed into a stationary Honda tipper truck with registration number GN 5723-14.

Upon receiving the distress call, a swift search and rescue team led by Leading Fireman (LFM) Siale Richard was dispatched to the scene.
Seventeen victims had already been rescued by bystanders prior to the crew’s arrival, leaving two individuals still trapped in the mangled Sprinter.
The team used dashboard rolling and door removal techniques to safely extricate the victims, who were afterwards transported by ambulance to Steward Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
