Ghanaian footballer, Gladson Awako, has said that the conduct of some prominent individuals within Accra Hearts of Oak influenced his decision to exit the club.

He explained that some officials within the club felt that he had become too powerful and that could be detrimental to their interests, hence they were not happy with him.

The veteran Ghanaian midfielder indicated that he did not offend anyone at the club to warrant such level of hatred.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Awako lamented the hatred he faced from Hearts of Oak officials, which forced him to exit the club.

“Hearts of Oak and Olympics are two different clubs. One of the clubs is political, and the other is not. It got to a time when they thought I was becoming too powerful, so they had to get rid of me, but there was no problem with me.

“The leadership roles I got from the coach gave me power, and they felt if they should allow me, it wouldn’t help most of them, so they got rid of me,” he said.

The experienced attacking midfielder joined the Phobians before the start of the 2021/22 football season after ending his stay at Accra Great Olympics.

The move happened after he lit up the Ghana Premier League with outstanding performances for the Dade Boys.
