A man abducted a five-year-old girl while she was playing in the street and sexually assaulted her in his house, a court heard.

Mohammed Abdulraziq, 32, is accused of kidnapping the child and locking her inside his home in Winson Green on March 30 this year.

The Sudanese national is also accused of sexually assaulting the girl after they were both found with the bottom half of their clothing down to their ankles.

Abdulraziq is standing trial at Birmingham Crown Court, where he denied the charges of false imprisonment, false imprisonment with intent to commit a sexual offence, sexual assault and assault.

Jurors were told Abdulraziq snatched the girl from the street while her mother’s back was turned and took her inside his house.

When the mother realised what had happened, she began banging on his door and even tried to smash the window of his downstairs room with a piece of wood, the court heard.

Abdulraziq is also alleged to have punched a neighbour who tried to climb in the window, before two other men successfully broke into the house and rescued the girl.

The defendant was arrested by police shortly after, while the youngster was heard repeatedly telling her mother ‘he hurt me’, the court heard.

Mohammed Abdulraziq, 32, is standing trial at Birmingham Crown Court (pictured) accused of kidnapping the child and locking her inside his house in Winson Green on March 30 this year

Prosecutor Tariq Shakoor told the court that barefooted Abdulraziq had approached the child’s mother earlier in the day when he made a ‘sly’ comment towards her with a ‘sexual connotation’.

However the mother did not fully understand what he said, as he spoke in a different language, before returning inside his home.

The mother had been chatting to a friend and later when she turned around, she could no longer see her daughter, the prosecutor added.

Mr Shakoor said that she and the friend then began desperately searching the area, including a nearby park and corner shop, before returning to the street.

It was at this point they supposedly heard the sound of crying – which the mother immediately recognised to be her daughter – coming from Abdulraziq’s house.

The mother tried the front door but realised it was locked and started banging on the door before spotting Abdulraziq with her child, Mr Shakoor said.

‘The defendant is plainly in that room with the child at this time and her mother, in panic, picks up a piece of wood to try and smash the window.’

Mr Shakoor said the mother’s friend tried climbing in the window and was eventually able to open the curtains.

‘She sees the child and the defendant. The defendant was next to a bed, (the girl) was opposite him. Her bottoms, described as cycling shorts, are down to her ankles.

‘The defendant’s lower clothing was also down to his ankles and the defendant at that stage appears to be bending towards the child, touching her shorts and trying to pull them up.’

Abdulraziq then ‘swung’ a punch at the woman and shut the window, causing her to fall back onto the street, the court heard.

The ongoing commotion alerted two men, who were able to force open Abdulraziq’s and rescue the child, jurors were told.

‘She is telling her mother repeatedly “he hurt me”, pulled her clothes down and “hurt me”,’ Mr Shakoor added.

Abdulraziq was arrested by police later that day.

    The trial continues.
