    A 21-year-old woman, Princess Okolie, and her boyfriend, Prince Atigbi, have been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for staging a fake kidnapping to extort the sum of two million from her parents.

    The incident began on December 30, 2024, when Princess left her home and failed to return, prompting her mother to report her disappearance to the police.

    The police received a call from an alleged kidnapper demanding a ransom of N2 million for her release. However, upon investigation, the police discovered that the kidnapping was a ruse orchestrated by Princess and her boyfriend to extort money from her parents.

    Prince Atigbi was arrested after collecting the ransom money, and he confessed that he was not a genuine kidnapper but had acted according to a plan devised by Princess.

    The lady also admitted to faking her own kidnapping to extort money from her parents. According to her, when it was time to go home, her boyfriend didn’t have transport fare for her so they conspired to call her parents and tell them she had been kidnapped.

    Both suspects are currently in police custody, and the ransom money has been recovered.
