Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a fight on the Isle of Sheppey.

Police officers raced to the scene on Warden Bay Road, in Leysdown-on-Sea, shortly after 7pm on Sunday after reports that ‘an altercation broke out involving a small group of people’.

A man in his 40s was confirmed dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A girl, aged 16, and two boys, aged 14 and 15, have been arrested. They remain in custody.

Emergency crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAS) also responded to the incident last night along with the local air ambulance charity.

Pictures from the scene on Monday show a white tent erected in an area close to the seafront. A police cordon has also been set up in a large clearing behind the beach in front of a caravan park.

One local resident was surprised that her afternoon walk was disrupted, as she thought the air ambulance helicopter sent last night was the coast guard which they ‘get a lot’ at this time of year.

Kent Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information that could help with their investigation into the incident.

A SECAS spokesperson said: ‘SECAmb were called shortly after 19:00 yesterday (10/08/25) to reports that a man was assaulted near Jetty Road and Warden Bay Road in Leysdown, Isle of Sheppey.

‘Crews attended the scene alongside The Air Ambulance Chairty, Kent Surrey Sussex, however sadly, the man died at the scene.’

The Isle of Sheppey is an island off the north coast of Kent in the Thames Estuary.

It is located around 42 miles from central London and has a population of over 40,000.

The island, which is around nine miles long and four miles wide, was originally known as Sheep Island or Sceapige in old English.
