Lagos, Nigeria. August 16, 2025, It was a day of energy, color, and anticipation at the Admiralty Event Center, Lagos, as GinjaBet officially launched, unveiling sensational Nigerian rapper, Blaqbonez as its ambassador. With top industry figures, regulators, and stakeholders in attendance, the event set the stage for a bold new chapter in Nigeria’s betting and gaming industry.

The event was hosted by Sports media personality Chuey Chu, who set the tone for the afternoon with charisma and humor. He introduced George Mbabane, Head of Marketing at GinjaBet, who revealed how the launch was the result of nine months of intense planning and building of the brand.

Taking the audience through the journey, Joe Richa, CEO of GinjaBet, shared how the brand’s vision was conceived. While there were initial concerns about challenges in Nigeria’s gaming space, the team saw Lagos as the perfect home, given its unmatched energy and status as Africa’s biggest economic city.

“Our first thought was: how do we transfer power to Nigerians?” Richa explained. After countless nights of brainstorming, the name ‘GinjaBet’ emerged, symbolizing energy, fire, and celebration.

Affirming the brand’s mission, Richa is quoted as saying, “To make betting fun, rewarding, and community driven.” Unlike traditional platforms that see players as just users, GinjaBet positions them as members of a community.

He gave his assurance on the technical aspect of the brand, posing GinjaBet as a platform built on secure, scalable systems capable of handling large volumes of data, ensuring a seamless and safe user experience.

The CEO also took time to thank his team, partners, and the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority for their support in making the launch possible.

“Today is not just the launch of GinjaBet, it is the start of a new season,” he declared.

Notably present at the event was Bashiru Are, the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, who, while addressing the crowd, praised the brand’s choice of name: “No city has Lagos energy, so your brand name is perfect. You came at the right time.” He said.

He reaffirmed how the Lagos agency, recognized as one of the best in Africa, is committed to protecting, promoting, and regulating gaming while also serving as a shield for consumers.

Chief Operating Officer of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Mr. Samuel Rowland, had the floor for a moment, where he emphasized the role of regulation in ensuring that gaming remains both fun and safe:

“Gambling has always been with us. Regulation ensures it is controlled, fun, and fair. That’s why we now have features like hold and stop, which allow players to pause when they need to.”

The major highlight of the event was the unveiling of BlaqBonez as GinjaBet’s first brand ambassador. Quite elated with the development, the rapper shared with the crowd how the uniqueness of GinjaBet in terms of style, mission, amongst others were the key factors that made him want to work with the brand.

He shared how their vision aligns with his and so, joining their team as a “formidable striker” was a no-brainer for him. Addressing the crowd, the rapper assured that GinjaBet represents the beginning of something safe and secure for users. While encouraging fans to place their bets, he asked that they always do so responsibly.

Unlike many platforms in the industry, GinjaBet prides itself on having certain unique exciting features like,

    • Youth first, Community first: built with young people and their lifestyle at its core.
    • Packed with unique features: including a 3+1 Bonus, Edit Bet Slip, and “Save & Play Later” options.
