Former broadcaster Gideon Aryeequaye has been appointed as the Acting Executive Secretary of Ghana’s Creative Arts Agency (CAA).

According to a report by graphic.com.gh, he succeeds Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, who has led the agency since its establishment in 2020.

This appointment comes ahead of the government’s ‘Black Star Experience’ agenda, which focuses on enhancing Ghana’s culture, art, and tourism sectors.

Gideon Aryeequaye is well-known for his work as a broadcast journalist and television newscaster at TV3.

He served as the Head of News at e-TV Ghana and is also recognised for hosting the Ghana Most Beautiful programme on TV3.

From January 2014 to 2017, he served as the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), where he played a key role in shaping tourism initiatives in the country.

As an active member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gideon Aryeequaye once ran for Member of Parliament for the Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom constituency in the 2012 primaries but did not win.

    Creative Arts Agency (CAA)

The CAA operates under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, providing a framework for the development and management of Ghana’s creative arts industry.

Its key functions include overseeing the organisation and management of the creative arts sector, advising the minister on industry standards and regulations, and sourcing and managing investments to support the growth and competitiveness of the creative arts industry.

As the Acting Executive Secretary, Aryeequaye is responsible for the agency’s day-to-day administration and reports directly to the CAA Board, ensuring compliance with the Creative Industry Act (1048).
